Setting up of full-scale production of protective and decorative iridescent holograms

Objectives

  • Arrangement of production of modern high-tech produce - holographic self-adhesive labels that collapse if unstuck and holographic stamps from foil for hot embossing.
  • Reach sales volume for proposed produce of about 700,000 GBP per year by the third year of project implementation.
  • Mastering of a large market of holographic produce that ensures efficient protection against counterfeits and fakes of documents, securities and mass demanded items.
  • Creation of 19 new jobs, including at least 11 ones for former employees of RFNC-VNIITF.

Summary

Iridescent holograms are made by means of embossing of optical diffraction grating on a film, which are produced via methods of laser optical holography. Such holograms represent iridescent 2D images (logos, emblems, signs) and 3D objects on a film basis. The reverse side of the film can be covered with adhesive layer, which allows making labels, trademarks business cards, illustrations for advertising booklets and other similar items which are easy in use. Sophisticated and unique nature of the technology allows to apply embossed holograms to protect securities against falsification (stocks, securities, pass cards and IDs, certificates, public transport season tickets, tickets for mass entertaining events and etc.), and items of mass consumption (alcohol and other beverages, tobacco goods, foodstuffs, medical items and etc.).

However, almost all Russian producers of holograms are located in Moscow and St. Petersburg There is no regional production. Obviously, close location of holograms production will enhance consumers demand (which is available already, but does not correspond market demand).

Project initiator - Limited Liability Company "Krypton". Krypton, Ltd. was registered in Snezhinsk for implementation of Federal contract №4907р/7314 for R&D activity under the subject: "Development of pilot sample of a gauge which controls contents of Argon in closed translucent capacity".

Main directions of activity: production of devices, based on holography principles, laser interferometry and spectroscopy, scientific researches and developments in the field of natural and technical sciences.

The proposed project will be implemented with the assistance of organizations that specialize in production of holograms and supplies of specialized equipment:

  • Krypto-print, Ltd. (Moscow) - will carry out maintenance of manufacturing equipment, technical and technological support of the projects, staff training, and commissioning tests.
  • Science and Production Firm "Centre of Laser Technologies" (Kazakhstan) - will carry out supplies of materials, staff training, commissioning tests, production of master-matrix at the first stage.

As a result of Project implementation the number of jobs increases from 2 till 21. From them number of jobs for former employees of nuclear complex enterprise RFNC VNIITF participating in CNCP Programme is 11.

Cost

Total cost of the project is £285,422. The BERR's contribution is £192,400.
It is planned to use own funds of Krypton, LLC. as a contribution of the Russian side (at the starting stage) at the amount of about £20,000. The lacking amount will be borrowed from banks or private investors.
