Manufacture of Furniture Panels from Shaped MDF.

Objectives

  • To expand the range of products made from MDF boards, thus increasing customers demand for furniture made by the "Maple" factory and increase sales of ready made products.
  • To increase the industrial output by 150-160%.
  • To lower the cost of ready made products in order to increase its competitiveness in the regional market.
  • To create 22 additional jobs (including 13 jobs for the former nuclear weapon specialists from VNIITF, Snezhinsk) to maintain high-tech equipment.
  • Better environmental standards for the furniture.
  • To provide a consistent quality of manufacture of the quality produce and to achieve a reliable status at the regional market.

Summary

Implementation of the project will result in the manufacture of the following items from MDF (a board material made of dried wooden fibre processed by special binder and hot-pressed, then covered with PVC film and natural veneer):
  • Furniture facings, including combined (MDF + wood).
  • Decorative profiles and panelled items.

The major part of ready facings and profiled laths will be sold to furniture manufacturers operating beyond the Snezhinsk market (Yekaterinburg and Chelyabinsk).

Cost

Total cost of the project is £293,000. The DTI is contributing £190,192.
