TEPLOSTEN Heat Insulating Multi-layered Building Material
BETTA Production and Trade Company
Summary
Project proposed: May 2007.
Outline Proposal approved by SG: July 2007.
CNCP financial commitment: £3,600 for additional research.
Plan
The aim of this project is to set up an automated production line for the manufacture of high quality building blocks.
The blocks will be made of a standard concrete structural layer, a decorative fascia and, sandwiched between the two,
will be a high density polystyrene insulation layer that can be sized to suit climate conditions. When assembled into
the final building, the blocks provide a strong construction and a very good thermal barrier with much less weight and
cost than a standard red brick or concrete block equivalent. The build cost is 75% of a standard concrete block. Building
blocks of this type are already used in Russia but there is no local manufacturer in the Tomsk Region, therefore they have
to be brought in.
The BETTA Production and Trade Company is making this proposal. This company has some experience in producing concrete for
the building industry. Currently the company employs staff of nine with a turnover of £100,000/year.
The total project cost is £700,000 with a request for £200,000 (28.6%) from CNCP. Other funding will be £500,000 (71.4%)
which will come from BETTA through own investment or bank loan. The new business will employ 67 new staff, 37 of which will
be ex-SCK staff and 15 will be highly skilled workers.
