Plan
SCK wish to manufacture high quality tungsten products using a Chemical Vapour Deposition (CVD) technique developed
in association with FSUE, Research Institute, Science and Production Association "Luch".
The main benefit of using the CVD technique is that very smooth surfaces are formed. SCK believe that this will be
a significant advantage particularly in the production of crucibles for the manufacturers of Sapphire crystals. Luch have built
a pilot plant for manufacturing small sized components, but a manufacturing plant will be set up at Seversk to reduce transport
issues (the finished crucibles each weigh 40-50 kg.) Seversk have a supply of the raw materials required (WF6) and believe that
the waste stream of HF could be used to manufacture Flourine as a by-product.
